2/23: Hello Gold Mountain Premiere

If you’re not familiar with past NATIVE cover feature Wu Fei, you should be. Over the past few years, the Beijing-born composer, multi-instrumentalist, and vocalist has graced Nashville with her guzheng (a 2,500-year-old stringed instrument similar to a koto) composition and local musical collaborations. Now, she’s teaming up with local classical ensemble chatterbird to present Hello Gold Mountain, an original composition inspired by the true stories of Jewish immigrants in Shanghai following World War II. The premiere is presented by the Tennessee Immigrant and Refugee Rights Coalition, the Jewish Community Center, and Vandy’s Blair School of Music, and you can more info and tickets here.
