4/21: Record Store Day

It’s one of our favorite days of the year: Record Store Day! Supporting the local creative community is one of our main goals here at NATIVE, and buying music (and in some cases, beer) from local record stores is one of the most enjoyable ways to do that. Here’s a list of what some of our favorite shops in Nashville have set up for Saturday.

Grimey’s Records

Ashley Monroe’s new album Sparrow is out tomorrow, and to celebrate, she will be playing at Grimey’s Saturday as part of the Record Store Day celebrations. The outdoor concert starts at 11:00 a.m. with WXNA DJ and concludes with a show from a surprise guest—announced tomorrow—at 5:00 p.m. More details on the event can be found on Grimey’s website.

Fond Object Records

Fond Object has two locations, Riverside Village and 4th Ave South. This means two parties for Record Store Day! Starting at noon they’ll have live music at both locations, including past-feature Sad Baxter. The full lineup of artists and vendors is on Fond Object’s website.

The Groove

The Groove has linked up with ACME Radio for live performances in their backyard, as well as a live broadcast in the in the shop. They’re also holding a 15 percent off deal all day inside the shop. There’s a slew of great artists set to play, including past-feature Liz Cooper & The Stampede. The full line-up is online.

Boulevard Record Shop

If you’re just itching to celebrate record store day, you’ll want to start at Boulevard Records Shop, as they’re opening early for the special day. They’ll be celebrating by selling exclusive vinyls starting at 8:00 a.m., and with free acoustic performances from 12-5 p.m. Head to their Instagram for the show’s lineup.

Third Man Records

Third Man Records always delivers when it comes to Record Store Day, and 2018 is no exception. One of this month’s features, Joshua Hedley, will have an exclusive mahogany 7″ of two, never-before-heard tracks at Third Man. Also, past-feature Soccer Mommy will be on the stage at 2:00 p.m. with some live music. See full details on Third Man’s website.

Vinyl Tap

Last but certainly not least is Vinyl Tap. They’ll be opening their doors at 10:00 a.m. and they’re giving 15 percent off everything in the store. Cold Lunch Recording is providing the jams, and the live music will start at 1:00 p.m. The full list of acts is on Vinyl Tap’s website.
