The Minks: “Sweet Talk” Music Video

The irony of calling a Nashville country or blues band original isn't lost on us, but The Minks' fusion of gritty, no-nonsense riffs and twangy melodies is, well, actually original. Carried by frontwoman Nikki Barber’s distinct vocals, the wailing Western-y four piece combines Bonnie Raitt (at her angriest) with modern blues rock, and the result is a trad-country/grunge quartet that embraces its down-home sound with a knowing wink. Their debut single, “Sweet Talk,” is accompanied by the more subdued B side, “In Plain Sight,” and available to buy or stream on major platforms. The video was filmed by Houston Mathews at Slowhand Films.
